570,XXX serial number circa later 1966 production

Excellent vintage condition case with thick and even lugs and crown guards, seemingly unpolished. Original twin-lock Rolex crown.

The dial is a very rare variant with lacquer finish. This dial was only produced in 1966 and for less than a year, usually in 569-570 thousand serial range. Why? No one knows. But looks like as Rolex stops their production of glossy dial, Tudor started for a bit and then went back to matte again. This is the only year Tudor uses lacquered dial for its Subs. It is aged beautifully with nice patina on hands and plots. There is fracturing (or spidering) in the lacquer surface if looking up close. This is also correct for these dials and expected. Any “perfect” dials should be looked at much closer and carefully for evidence of altering. The dial shows up very nicely and still glossy.

Bezel is original, Long 5 and is period correct. Nicely faded with original tritium pip.

Caseback is original, stamped 7928 and VI.66 inside.

The watch was found and comes on Rolex USA C&I rivet bracelet with ’71 date stamp. A USA made bracelet makes sense as it matches the USA “ROW” stamp on movement, indicating import to US Market.

No box or papers. The watch winds and runs.
