Incoming: Vacheron Overseas Moon Phase Retrograde Date
Around 10 months back Vacheron Constantin released the Moon Phase Retrograde Date with the punch line “Iconic lines merging signature complications”. I was smitten by the watch the moment I laid eyes on it.
Yes…there is a classic 3 hand version Overseas, a Dual Time Overseas, a Chronograph Overseas which btw are amazing in their own ways but to take a retrograde date & a moon phase (a dress watch complication) and putting that into a sports watch package was a brilliant move by Vacheron. That said, over the weekend I got the call from the local VC boutique and like a normal person I dropped everything that I had planned for Saturday and drove to the boutique. Pretty much the perfect Overseas, except the very limited white gold 2000v.
All other watches I always hear some complaints. 4500v: The date window and numerals looks cheap 7900v: Do not like the non symmetrical look, a bit on the thick side 5500v: Too large, date window bad should be grand date I can't really see anyone fault this? It's symmetrical, moonphase is beautiful, its thin, not too large and comes with the best blue dial in the business. Well it would be the price then which is somewhat outragous - Always have to keep something to complain about :D |
