Sea-Dweller manual winding problem?

It doesn't seem normal to me that when manually winding the watch there is a noise like the gear inside skips. Otherwise the watch works normally without rushing or lagging.

Any advice on this manual winding noise. The watch is still under warranty, should I take it for inspection? Has anyone had a similar problem?

Have not had that problem but if still under warranty and you have an AD you can take it to for evaluation I would certainly start there.

Are you sure it simply isn't just fully wound? - it's made to slip when it's at full wind.

My thought also.

What reference is your Sea-Dweller?

slip clutch designed to stop over winding. let the watch power run down completely then see if it has gone. i did this with mine, winding is now super smooth

Are you overwinding it?

Thanks everyone for the advice.

I tried everything even when the power was completely down and it's slipping again. The curious thing is after it starts running it runs very precisely.

16600, 116600, 126600?

You shouldn't really notice the clutch. If it doesn't feel smooth when winding I would at least take it to a competent watch smith. Not a fast-fix in the mall.

To me, it sounds like it may be a sign something is going on with the automatic module. The two most common problems I can think of are that the reversing wheels are magnetized or the oiling is improperly done. Both of these can make you feel the gears while winding; it might be like slipping or a bit grainy. I would try getting the watch demagnetized, then go from there.

The watch is 3 years old.

As far as I know the SD43 is a 15000 Gauss Paramagnetic with blue Parachrom hairspring.

I'll probably have to send it to a service center, then I'll write what they told me from there.
