Crown and Caliber Problem

I've bought a number of pieces from C&C but just the other day bought a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms which was advertised as having box and and papers and it came with neither. I tried calling but they don't have a number that anyone answers. I replied to an email from a sales rep who contacted me but now he's gone silent. When I tried to initiate a return online, it stated that my order number didn't exist.

Has anyone else had issues like this with them? Any advice?

Thanks,

Lindsey

Good luck with them. I bought a 16800 submariner from them years ago. They said it was all original. My watch guy said the hands had been touched up, and the movement needed service. They wouldn’t take it back. I traded it in to someone else who had the correct parts since I didn’t want it anymore. They are trash.

I feel like these type of issues were inevitable due to Hodinkee buying them and the recent layoffs. That doesn’t excuse this type of BS but it definitely doesn’t surprise me.

I’d try reaching out to them via social media and if you still don’t hear from them I’d start tagging them about your issues. Sometimes public shaming is the only way to go.

Hope this issue gets resolved fast. Sorry you have to deal with this.

Good suggestions but they don't allow posting or tagging on their sites.

I sold them my Tudor Black Bay last year and it took a month to receive payment. They claimed there was an issue with their accounting software. That may have been the case, but after reading about other payment problems it could have been a cashflow issue instead.

After many emails and calls, I was finally paid.

I would never do business with them again.

Sorry to hear OP. You wouldn’t think this should be a difficult issue to resolve.

Keep trying the phone number and email etc.

Depending on the type of transaction I prefer to use PayPal as the ability to correct or address problems is simple with them. I don't know how you paid but I would see if you could dispute it. I know fees are associated but that can be negotiated or just paid. I have never had a dispute that with PayPal was not resolved in my favor.

I used to buy and sell with C&C and always had good experiences. Seems like after they hooked up with Hodinkee things started to go downhill.

Update: They say they found the box and papers and are sending them to me. I'll let you all know if they are genuine. The watch definitely looks legit so I hope to have a full set tomorrow.

Thanks for all the input from the community!

Glad they finally got back to you. It’s messed up you had wait that long for some type of resolution but it seemed like it worked out. If there’s any other issues let us know. Still congrats on the watch. Post some photos when you have a chance.

Final update.
Got the box and papers and they are correct. Whew!
Actually ended up being a very good deal. The watch was purchased new just this past December for $19,000 and I got it for $12,000.
Restored my faith a little bit in C&C/Hodinkee.

That’s good to hear. And damn that’s a steal. Enjoy the watch!
