Help - Blue Dial - Scratched?
Just bought this dial for my 18038 36MM DD.
Not sure what this white stuff is. Can anyone help? Do I need to order a new one?? Also are the Roman numerals dirty ? |

Why not take it to a watchmaker and ask them to clean it up and install it? If you’re not happy with it, buy a different one.

Nobody is going to be able to tell you, definitively, what the white stuff is.

What are you thinking?
Find another dial. That one looks a mess.

Did you see photos of it before buying it?

I agree with the others (and you, I believe) that the dial is visibly in poor condition.
It was likely salvaged from a DD that had perished gaskets and stored for a long time in that condition. I’m going out on a limb here but I have seen this in watches from humid climates where microbes begin to colonize on the dial surface due to being worn without being dustproof. If you have a right to return with refund, that is your best course of action IMHO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Have to agree Eddie and anyone with any common sense would know that hour plots are badly oxidised for being exposed in open environment.
