Vintage DJ36 WG w/ blue vignette & jubilee

Brand new member of the forum. Folks I have read through so SO many discussions and threads as a non-member and finally decided to join, and it feels somehow "special" to me. Like a milestone!
I do have a general question and a follow up question to my general question. I bought my fluted bezel blue vignette DJ about 20 years ago and gave it to my dad shortly after as a gift when he made it through a quad bypass. He wore it fairly often.
I'm now 40 and it was given back to me after he passed last year. I wear it daily. I have read a lot about bracelet stretch because of the hollow links in the older bracelets and because of general wear and tear. Mine has a fair to significant amount of movement and "slop" between the links and it concerns me.
I recently talked with a local to me Dallas, TX area Jeweler and watch maker who said there is essentially nothing that can be done to fix the jubilee bracelets. Is this true? Also, how much movement or slop is safe?
It's very comfortable, but I don't want to go from comfortable to broken or falling off.
I have looked at the possibility of some of the rubber straps etc but in my opinion about half the look of the DJ is the beautiful and complex jubilee bracelet. It is not quite within the budget to replace it with OE given some of the pricing i've seen. I could also never fathom replacing it with knockoff/aftermarket. Where the warranty card OR box are is a mystery that won't have a resolution until I see my dad again.
