Icon1 Saw III Movie Review.

I enjoyed the first "Saw" film greatly, and also thought "Saw II", while a little below-expectations, was still a very good horror film. But man, this one was really great, better than the previous sequel if you ask me. The plot is cleverly woven together to leave the viewer wondering throughout the whole movie, but it keeps your attention the whole way, and manages to be enthralling and consistently interesting. The character development was excellent in this film, something that I think the previous sequel lacked. The characters were sympathetic, and a lot of time was spent on their own psychological torment that tied in with the horrible torture that was occurring in front of their eyes. Just for that, I think this film easily surpassed "Saw II". The directing was well done, and is very similar to how the previous movies were shot - lots of dark and light colours, and damp, rusty atmospheres. The violence this time around is just about as nasty as you're gonna get in an R-rated movie, those who have a weak stomach are advised to avoid this film at all costs. The only thing that annoyed me about this movie was a character's decision near the end of the film - I won't give it away, but man, I saw really frustrated! Oh well, the rest of this film made up for that minor annoyance.

All in all, "Saw III" is the best sequel of this series, in my opinion at least. It was clever, unpredictable, well-acted and written, and relentlessly violent. For fans of this series and other relentless horror films, "Saw III" is definitely a must see.But I do caution you and implore you from the depths of my soul that this movie is not for the faint of heart, now I love horror movies so for me a 9/10.

Thanks for the review Pete. I didn't get to watch Saw, but I have seen Saw II. I always thought that 3rd installments are generally poor, but with your review, I would be watching it.

Well, well Peter. He never explained it like that before. It sure does make a lot of sense now!

Disturbing images of JJ aside, I really like the original Saw and although the second wasn't nearly as good, it was still okay. I will definitely make the effort to see Saw 3 when I get the chance (will likely wait for the DVD - hardly ever go out to the movies).

Bah... this new 'horror' is not something I'm a fan of.
Saw, The Grudge, the hills have eyes etc etc etc Not my cup of fermented Kazhak horse urine.
Give me an old John Carpenter film, or something like Rosemary's Baby anyday.

I dont like this horror either Otis, anything that has serial killers or subject matter that could be 'real' freaks me out... I'd rather not know about this stuff thanks, that also goes for those forensic shows that explain how the Police capture murderers etc too scary for me!!!

Then Amanda definitely dont watch Saw 111,else think a distinct possibility of doing a bit more that wetting your pants.

LOL - I remember some horror films screened in the US decades ago had warnings on them, and said that paramedics were standing by... LOL!!!
