This sounds like my experience with exotic cars. I could afford to buy them but not to own them. Just wear an Explorer and find another hobby.

Hire a body guard when venturing out in sketchy areas.

Get an appraisal that puts them at grey market value and then use the appraisal for your insurance. Piece of cake. If your AD can't/won't do the appraisal go to another Jeweler who will. Once you've increased the insured value to grey replacement cost, then you have nothing to worry about (with your watches anyway) and you can just enjoy them.

To provide a little context, home and car break-ins in Seattle are very common (I assume this is the OP's home location and mine too). This has been a major problem here, the discussion of which is well beyond the scope of this forum. I share the OPs concerns and would recommend a good home safe, insurance as you already described, and not to worry about wearing pieces insured at MSRP.

jewelers mutual allows for current market value. My 116500 is insured for 28k (last updated a few months ago lol).

Hi, I don't think you're being paranoid at all. But I do feel it would be sound to exercise some perspective as you seem to be letting your material possessions have a negative control over you. There are people in the world worried about their daily survival and you're worrying about the hassle of replacing your watches if they were stolen. And remember, don't let the things you own end up owning you.

absolutely insure them. If I left my house with anything worth that much on my person - it’s insured.
No more than 200 a year for the insurance |

As everyone knows an iPhone (or, if you must, a Samsung or Huawei) will tell you the time more accurately than any Rolex, PP, VC, AP etc. and the lume is better! And it´s immediately replaceable at msrp for far less money! Joking aside, I wouldn't anyone to lose or have their prized Rolex stolen.

Two options:
1. Sell the watches. 2. Move to Texas and get a carry permit. |

Yes, you are being paranoid. Insure the watch(es), take reasonable precautions, and enjoy the experience of owning and wearing Rolex. If you are too afraid of losing it to enjoy it, then get rid of them.

Here is what you need to do: buy a spare unit for every watch you own just so that you can immediately put the new one on as soon as the current one is stolen.

Have to ask yourself, are your daily activities putting you at risk in losing them?
If you travel first class frequently, airport lounges and nice hotels(JWs, Ritz, etc )you have nothing to worry about. If on other side of scale your adding increased risk. In which maybe the cash in the bank is better idea. |

If you wear your watch too loose then you need to loosen the screws in the bracelet and lose a link. Then your watch won’t be be so loose and you’re unlikely to lose it. Loosen up loser !
