If it were me, I'd return the watch and buy a brand new one from one of our wonderful dealers here and save a bundle!

It's apples & oranges, or rather P's & Z's, but I picked up a P serial (w/ lug holes, which I wanted), that had barely a nick on it, for $2250, had it completely serviced for $550, and could not be happier.
The draw of the M & V serial numbers is it'll have the 3186 movement verses the 3185 in the Z & lower serial numbers. In my opinion the blue spring isn't worth an extra 10% from the AD. I would consider what Anastasios said, and go grey. Good luck, and let us know what you decide.

Here's another update:
I went back and asked for my money back. I also told the lady that she had insulted me by trying to sell me a "Z" without telling me. She apologized several times and told me she did not know, which probably is true. I think the other salesperson (the rude one) was trying to get me to help them move their stock. He had told me earlier that they had over 270 Rolexes that they were trying very hard to move. The saleslady told me should would call me on Thursday and let me know if she can give me 20% off. We'll see. The TRF sellers are looking very interesting right now. If I can't get that 20%, I'll get my Explorer II here.

You know, she probably didn't know. Just because it was a Z case, does not mean the watch is that old, or that it has been sitting in the case that long. If she is going to ORDER you a watch, when they have several in stock they can't move, AND give you 10-20% off, I would say that you are lucky. Don't want to swim against the tide here, but that seems pretty generous to me. |
