Deposits can be a double edged sword. If you are number 1 or 2 on the list, I think it makes sense. I am not sure about number 5 unless the AD knows how many watches they are receiving a year. What if he AD loses their Rolex dealership at the end of the year? Not common, but still happens on a regular basis.

OK...I'll just put this out there.
Sure it's reasonable, if the AD can prove you're no. 5. But they won't, and you'll never know. So no way in my book. |

My AD did not ask for a deposit but also would not tell me where I am on the list.
I'm also located about 4,000 miles away from the AD so that may have something to do with it... dr |

Ad here in Vancouver is asking for deposits... He mentioned some have paid in full but he'd be happy with a 1000 from me which I'm fine with..

I don't think 20% is unreasonable at all. But if you don't like it you have the power to take your business elsewhere. If you have and issue putting down 20% then negotiate with them.

AD will not take a deposit from you, even you wanted to place it. why would they?
If you are a VIP, they will get you one with or without If you are repeat customers, they will check your purchase history then determine. If you are new customer, they will ask you to buy sth first, then will see. |
